Job Description

Manage and deliver System Engineering outputs relating to Requirements and Acceptance

Set out and co-ordinate management of the Ship requirements and acceptance, including requirements strip and analysis

Establish and subsequently govern the design baselines for the CSC, and alignment with Type 26 GCS

Manage the Master Dependencies and Assumption List (MDAL)

Define and thereafter manage designated engineering processes, including data management, change and configuration control

Prepare and maintain the Engineering Management Plan

Assist in the preparation of the engineering schedule (System Engineering tasking)

Prepare cost/capability trade-off case study and prepare proposals for analysis

Ensure LFE / good practice / process developed in programme is deployed into GCS Export as appropriate

Maintain close contact with Central Engineering project staff to ensure alignment of GCS Export with Type 26

Functional Knowledge General: a. Naval Ships Engineering

  1. Engineering design and design analysis work c. Through life engineering d. Ship build engineering methodologies e. Engineering Product Lifecycle Specific to post:
  2. Requirements and acceptance
  3. Management of MDAL
  4. Definition, implementation and management of engineering processes, including change and configuration control
  5. Product Governance / Assurance including LCM
  6. Engineering Business Systems and data management

Qualifications:

Essential:

  1. Incorporated Engineer, or demonstrably working towards this;
  2. Degree qualified in an engineering discipline relevant to the design and production of complex naval warships; and
  3. Associate Member of a Professional Institution relevant to discipline.

Desirable:

  1. Chartered Engineer; and
  2. Full Member of a Professional Institution relevant to discipline.
