Purpose of Role:
This Senior Engineer role is to work within the Project Auxiliary systems Stage 1 design team and assist in managing the system solutions and ensure that the Stage 1 design intent is protected through the Stage 2 (3D modelling) and Stage 3 (Drawing outputs generation and issue to Production) phases of the project.
The role holder will require a wide knowledge of Marine Engineering, and Naval Ship design experience in order to fulfil this role. Stage 1 design activities will require an ability to undertake detailed system calculations, develop 2D schematics and lead the technical aspects of supplier engagement by creation of Technical Equipment specifications and Statements of Work along with management of technical deliverables from equipment suppliers within area or responsibility.
Five years ships Auxiliary Systems design experience is highly desirable but outstanding candidates with less, or transferable experience from an applicable domain may also be considered.
BEng Mechanical/ Marine Engineering (preferred)
HND and relevant experience in lieu.
Tasks and Activities:
Produce system specification documents and develop / document solutions to meet the specification including undertaking system performance calculations.
Produce Technical Equipment Specifications for the equipment within area of responsibility, lead the technical assessment of candidate suppliers' tenders, and perform the technical project management function for the resultant equipment contract.
Protect the programme by promptly addressing Change and Engineering issues raised against systems in area of responsibility.
Ensure that Stage 1 design intent is maintained through the later phases of the project.
Liaise with external agencies (the customer, approval authorities & subcontractors) to develop and gain authorisation of designs within scope of responsibility.
