Assistant Project Manager

Assistant/Deputy Project Manager with an engineering (aero/defence) background required to act on behalf of the DSPM Contract Manager performing a role as part of the project leadership team. This is not an IT Project Manager role.

Responsibilities are inextricably linked to the success of the project as the Project Manager's representative across the business.

The role spans across all elements of project management therefore requires multidiscipline knowledge of commercial and technical requirements throughout the project's lifecycle.

The role involves a combination defined tasks alongside generalised adhoc management activities.

The core tasks include but are not limited to:
* Provide direction and support to wider project control team
* Manage and track sub-contractor Purchase Orders
* Drive, track and control contract changes with the delivery teams
* Track, update, analyse and report KPI performance
* Ensure Forecast of Outturn is completed and provided in a timely manner
* Produce performance dashboards using power BI for overall project, subcontractors and customer report,
* Collate monthly financial accruals to support billing

Directly interface with client representatives as required during meetings and to provide update information such as KPI scoring and performance analysis

Liaise with external stakeholders and subcontractors as required during in year updates and end of year close out

To apply and work to objectives and targets as set by the Project Manager

Support continuous improvement activities

Support the Project Manager as project demands require

Liaise with Keynsham and Devonport based delivery groups to support task delivery and ensure exceptional KPI performance is achieved.

Perform and evaluate earned value analysis

Analyse schedule and cost performance to achieve business objectives

Deputise for the Project Manager to support business activities, as required

Support change the management process

It is desirable, but not essential, that the post holder holds minimum of HNC level or comparable academic achievement but must be able to demonstrate the ability to work to high academic standard.

Be a member of an accredited project body such as Association of Project Management

Hold APM Project Fundamentals qualification (PFQ)

The post holder shall be capable of working professionally and objectively with minimal direction.

The post holder shall have notable experience of project management methodologies and working as part of a team.

The post holder shall have experience of working in a dynamic project environment

The post holder shall have experience in finance and commercial aspects of projects.

The post holder shall be proficient in the use of appropriate Project Management & IT tools (especially MS Word, MS Excel).

The post holder shall have experience of project controls methodologies and processes Ability to analyse, interpret and present data

Must be a good communicator

It is desirable, but not essential that the Post Holder:
Has previous experience of Primavera (P6) and Power BI (training will be provided if necessary)

Prior experience and knowledge in the delivery of In-service Submarine Support is preferred.

Recognising the RESTRICTED nature of the work, suitable candidates will be SC cleared or eligible for this level of clearance.
