Assistant Project Managers

Project: Various GS projects

Reports to: Project Manager

Location: North Surrey, UK or overseas project locations

Salary - £ 40,000 PA plus full benefits package

Central to our execution strategy is our ability to provide Project and Programme Management expertise to our clients either as a prime contractor or as a Project Management Consultant (PMC).

Working within Government Service Business Unit is both varied and challenging with Project Managers working on a wide variety projects for a broad range of clients.

Core Responsibilities and duties:

Creation of project management products including plans, schedules, budgets and reports as required.
Supports and/or advises on the successful delivery of projects through all phases from definition through development to close out.
Supports and/or advises on all aspects of the project through the lifecycle including: schedule, budget, resource, quality, risks, issues, change and stakeholders in relation to task and project delivery.
Establishes priorities for the completion of assigned tasks and monitors progress of others.
Actively manages the provision of inputs and documents that are required for the completion of necessary tasks.
Relies upon developing experience, interpersonal skills, and knowledge gained in assignment to ensure tasks are completed in compliance with policies, procedures and delivery strategy.
Supports the preparation of stakeholder liaison interfaces.
Supports business interfaces including roles of governance and steering boards etc.
Partakes in risk, change, issue, reporting, deliverables, benefits and improvement plan planning, tracking and monitoring.
Develops and maintains task management information, collects and analyses project status information to help develop project reporting.
Supports the liaison between the project team and functional teams for the development and implementation of tools, systems and workflow.
Supports development and maintaining of deliverables listings, document management approach and package breakdown of tasks.
Supports other members of the team in understand how to apply the processes, systems and tools that are deployed in the project.
Co-ordination and administrative tasks in setting up projects, organising project diaries and plans.
Support analysis of supplier performance, reporting on progress, cost and risk positions.
Provides analysis and support material for potential change events to allow project to make informed decisions.
Understand and actively manage HSE and security on all assignments.


Educated to degree level within an engineering, law or business related field or equivalent experience
At least 2 years postgraduate experience in Project Management in a deliver or consultancy based environment with a range of project and client facing experience.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral).
Hold or be eligible to apply for UK based security clearance (UK residency test)

Have or be working towards a Project Management qualification such as: APM - PFQ , PMQ PMI, PMP
Experience and Skills:


Between 4-8 years previous experience in a project management role
Possess strong analytical skills
Good organisational skills giving the ability to deliver to plans, schedules and estimates.
Good written, oral, comprehension and presentational skills to enable effective communication with customers and management
Ability to work independently, keeping management adequately informed
Ability to work with a wide range of people with differing skills and experience
Highly numerate and good computer based skills in use of Microsoft and other applications
Able to develop a project plan
Understanding of the functions that make up project controls

Understanding of the principles of RAID, RACI and risk management
Understanding and experience of waterfall and AGILE methodologies
Experience of working in a secure environment
Experience of operating in a data centric environment
Experience of working across a variety of sectors
Willingness to work overseas
For Security processing candidates must have a minimum of 3 years up to date and unbroken residency in the UK.
