We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Project Manager to support the delivery of the third party works for the new station infrastructure on a high profile Rail focused project based in Central London.

The Key Accountabilities of the Assistant Project Manager will be as follows:

  • Assist with pre-planning works for the forthcoming Northern Line Blockade, liaising with TDM and other important stakeholder that are required to carry out preparatory works to enable the blockade.
  • Assist in ensuring approved design and construction documentation is in place for all 3rd party contractors, prior to works commencing and subsequent management and resolution of design queries
  • Assist in all commercial aspects of the project ensuring financial authority is in place for procurement and subsequent contract variations.
  • Monitor site works and assist with identifying key issues and risks. Support the suppliers to promote economic solutions
  • Measuring completed works on site to assist with reviewing suppliers applications for payment
  • Prepare integral project governance documentation and assist with project HSE functions and ensure all documentation is in place
  • Prepare and manage major project implementation plan, including responsibility matrix, detailed programmes, and cost and resource plans.
  • Analyse performance, implementation, and commercial data make decisions where appropriate or provide recommendations.

The Experience, knowledge and skills expected of the Assistant Project Manager will be as follows:

  • Experience of working under the NEC3 contract.
  • Experience of supporting in the making of day-to-day decisions project issues
  • Experience of working in project management in a large, complex, safety focussed and regulated organisation(s), where there are multiple complex interfaces, and delivering to time budget and quality
  • Experience of undertaking site visits for safety, quality and audit inspections
  • Knowledge and understanding of planning and project management tools and techniques.
  • Experience of managing the contractual aspects and obligations of projects.
  • Experience of working in a construction or engineering environment is desirable.
  • Knowledge and understanding of planning and project management tools and techniques.
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial control and procurement processes and techniques.
  • Awareness of safety issues in an operating railway environment
  • Understanding of CDM and ability to undertake safety inspections on site to improve suppliers HSE performance
  • Holding a valid Sentinel card is mandatory in order to access railway infrastructure. Additional permits including a QUAF and L&E General access are desirable
