Job Description

Our client is looking for a Assistant Accountant to work as part of a Finance and Project Team. The role is based in Preston.

To prepare monthly and quarterly Balance Sheet information for the Finance Teams so that effective Balance Sheet Reviews can take place.
To review the current process and to implement more effective working practices across the teams.
To conduct all system access reviews as and when required.
To complete any ad hoc reporting requirements dictated from the Finance Director or other key stakeholders as and when required.
To review all Integration and reporting templates that impact monthly and quarterly processes. Getting fit for the implementation of a new Financial & Reporting system, and to establish smooth transition.

Competencies Required:
Good IT and spreadsheet skills good working knowledge of all relevant software financial packages would also be an advantage e.g. SAP and BaaN.
Able to communicate financial information legibly and succinctly to individuals and groups outside the function.
Able to identify, in standard areas, problems and trends which are likely to cause future problems/issues.
Strong analytical skills and knowledge of relevant analytical techniques e.g. Variance Analysis.
Must be able to work on their own initiative.

The ability to work in a fast paced environment in a dynamic and challenging work environment that is focused on Business Improvements and providing an excellent customer service.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and to be able to complete tasks to a high standard and to a successful conclusion by having a flexible approach to managing ever changing priorities.

The ability to read and interpret internal policies
Excellent Microsoft Office skills
