Job Purpose / Overview
The Area Construction Delivery Manager takes responsibility for activities in the field relating to the construction of a designated section of the works and its on site facilitation. It includes day to day on site supervision, direction and monitoring of activities on the site, and providing input into planning the site and the works in a way to most safely and efficiently deliver the project.
The Area Construction Delivery Manager has responsibility for the delivery of the ancillary buildings section of the Works. This responsibility extends to all construction and related activities, reporting to the Construction Delivery Lead and includes logistics planning and implementation in collaboration with the site wide logistics team, programming and planning, monitoring and close out of authorities' obligations and conditions, client liaison, and staff management.
The scope will cover all civil/building works:
Construction and delivery of Civil Engineering Works associated with the Construction of the Ancillary Buildings incoming services coordination
Surveillance of the Ground works, Structure, envelope, MEP and fit out
Managing NNB Field Changes and Non- Conformity processes
M&E, IT&T, FF&E coordination with The end user contractors
Commissioning and Handover of building to Site Operations/ FM team
Framework & Boundaries
The Area Construction Delivery Manager will take responsibility for tactical logistics planning for individual works sections in support of the work completed on strategic logistics. Thereafter, they will be responsible for the detailed planning and implementation, in collaboration with the rest of the Delivery Team.
This post will supervise the activity of the Ancillary Buildings Contract Partner and interfaces with follow on packages.
Support and coach the contract partners in their delivery of the works packages to enable efficient delivery of the of their sections works.
Recommend temporary measures to mitigate against safety and/ or quality concerns. Follow up by taking appropriate and proportionate action (e.g. issue communications, call meetings) to avoid the halt of works.
Ensure clear, two-way communication with the relevant Construction Delivery Lead so that all activity and issues are directed appropriately
Proactively communicate with other site teams (H&S, contract, project controls, logistics) and Delivery Managers to maintain good communication links, and ensure activity is well and timely reported.
Contribute information on specific area to weekly and monthly reports, as well as issuing and maintaining performance and KPI indicators.
The post holder will be based in Somerset and may be required to travel to other company locations in the UK and possibly Europe as required.
Manage and coordinate delivery of service contract partners.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Ability to contribute to the management of a high performing team that continuously outperforms expectations and objectives
Experience of construction sequencing, recovery plans and resource allocation on a dynamic, fast track programme.
Good understanding of the post holder's obligations under CDM Regulations
Working knowledge in the delivery of large projects (Complex steel and concrete buildings with detailed interfaces with end user and MEP fitout during construction period).
Be able to write informative, concise and meaningful reports
Motivate and energise staff and contract partners by building a climate of trust and understanding and actively seeking alternative views and opinions.
Possess excellent organisation and communication skills
Tertiary qualifications in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or Construction management, or equivalent vocational training and experience
Manage a team and collaborate with other senior managers to effectively manage operations of the site, inputting effectively to avoid impact to other MDT's on the project.
Adopt a results-focussed mind set, using initiative wherever possible and taking personal responsibility and accountability to ensure necessary action is taken to deliver excellence, value and quality.
Experience of operating in a high security environment advantageous (highly regulated industry)
Experience within the Nuclear environment is advantageous but can be off-set by experience within Civil Engineering or Construction
Knowledge of French can be an advantage
