Analogue Engineer

Location: Templecombe

Duration: 6 months

Rate: £40 - £45 per hour LTD

Our client seeks an Analogue Engineer who will be responsible for the design and development of RF and electronic items within the Communications and Acoustic Products (CAP) group, including but not limited to antennas, tuners and RF distribution units.

The role may include, but not be limited to the following activities:

  • To carry out design activities (including RF design) in a team environment with other engineers
  • Work collaboratively with production and procurement to produce cost effective, easy to manufacture design solutions
  • Provide support to the bid team for the preparation of detailed estimates and bids
  • Provide support to production as required
  • Trials and integration support as required
  • Provide off-site support as required

Proven Ability / Key Skills


  • RF engineering design, including board layout (ideally with Cadence Allegro)
  • Knowledge of the application of engineering techniques to the design & manufacture small, low volume products
  • General Electronic Engineering skills and ability
  • Design for manufacture
  • Design for environmental requirements including shock, vibration and EMC
  • General understanding of Engineering Development lifecycles including design, development, testing, verification and validation phases
  • Extensive Microsoft Office suite knowledge
  • Willingness to adapt across multiple disciplines in order to drive a project to completion
  • Radio Communications (RF/Comms/Analogue Engineering background)
  • A comprehensive knowledge of hardware engineering design cycles and the interaction with system engineering, preferably with a strong mathematics capability
  • Defence industry background


  • RF modelling capability through Genesys/Microwave Office
  • Network Design
  • Digital and Analogue Electronic Design
  • An understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle, including detailed requirements analysis and decomposition, together with the ability to deal with technical aspects in all the allied disciplines
  • Understanding of Naval platforms, particularly sub-sea
  • The key areas of design undertaken for which previous proven ability would be beneficial will include:
    • Design and development of Hardware Engineering Products
    • The design of equipment for the sub-sea environment
    • The design of deployment systems
    • Design / specification of packaging solutions
    • Understanding of autonomous systems
