Job Title: Accounts Assistant; Duration: 6 months; Hours: 37 per week; Location: Preston; Pay rate: £14.38 p/hr PAYE

Job Description

Working within our busy Treasury team, you will be responsible supporting the delivery of UK and foreign bank accounts, currency hedging management, cash forecasting and associated cashbook activities. You will be working closely with finance teams, the wider business community and Group Treasury through the various activities undertaken by the team. The role includes responsibility for cash book processing and bank reconciliations, as well as supporting the implementation of our new accounting system.

Main Roles and Responsibilities

- Responsibility for the processing of several cash books in sterling and currency including balancing daily cash to bank statements
- Assisting in the resolution of cash book queries
- Responsibility for allocating customer receipts to debtors using the new remittance process
- Assisting with the preparation of bank reconciliations
- Support the readiness and implementation activities for the new accounting system and processes including updating work instructions and procedures
- Maintain regular and appropriate liaison with the business areas to provide support and guidance on cash book activities ensuring full compliance with all relevant policies
- Liaison with relevant stakeholders to answer queries and implement process improvements

Essential Skills

- Good attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal
- Knowledge of Office (Excel, Word) is essential.
- Knowledge of accounting software is essential and prior use of electronic bank statements and journals would be an advantage
- Existing treasury experience is highly beneficial.
