We recruit skilled trades people who have either time served in an apprenticeship, an NVQ or C&G Level 3. Candidates must hold, or be eligible and willing to undertake, Baseline or SC clearance as required. Successful candidates are likely to have worked in shipyards or have transferable skills from other industries such as power, oil & gas, offshore, petro-chemical or renewable energy.
Project Administrator; 9 month contract; based in Govan; £15.50 per hour A Project Administrator is required to work for BAE Systems, Govan to undertake a range of administrative duties for the project overall and the project team members (currently two senior executives which the role holder would provide PA support to). The post holder is likely to take a major role in coordinating the project activities with internal customers, including taking personal responsibility for the monitoring and liaison with specified stakeholders. This post requires considerable clerical experience and the ability to quickly build a comprehensive knowledge of the relevant stakeholders, organisational structures, project priorities, policies and procedures. The jobholder requires the ability to navigate interpersonal and team dynamics, arrive at solutions relatively autonomously and make sound judgement calls on behalf of the project team e.g. diary prioritisation The job holder must follow the most appropriate course of action, working within procedural constraints. Duties will involve; - Undertakes a range of specialised clerical and administrative duties to ensure the smooth running of the project and project team - Effective diary and inbox management for senior Executives, using quickly built knowledge of organisation structures and project team stakeholder priorities - Processes complex and variable documents received from a range of sources and consolidates / reviews in line with department standards and requirements. - Identifies and undertakes investigation into discrepancies through checking and analysing data and checking back through information flows, within and across departments. - Places requests on stakeholders, tracking returns in line with project schedule. - Liaises with stakeholders, taking personal responsibility for certain specified tasks/contacts, resolves queries & problems and expedites delivery of certain tasks. - Analyses, collates and formats data from a number of sources in order to produce reports, schedules and summaries e.g. will be asked to produce slide packs for presentation at senior and high profile reviews - Quickly develop a detailed knowledge of stakeholders and relevant policies / processes The jobholder will report to Project Director, Operational Improvement and support him and the HR Director with PA support All are working on a specific project which underpins the _Strengthen and Adapt the Sector_ strategic action, for Maritime and Land UK The new recruit will provide administration support for the roles detailed above and act as overall project administrator The role has a home base of Govan but may sometimes require home working, particular in light of any new COVID considerations The jobholder will have considerable experience in Business Support / Administration roles and be able to use all Microsoft Office software comprehensively (especially PowerPoint). You will need to build a comprehensive knowledge of a range of stakeholders, organisational structures, work routines, procedures and systems. Good communication skills to regularly exchange information. You will be able to quickly establish rapport and credibility with a wide range of contacts across the UK and be able to confidently liaise with robust and sometimes awkward contacts. You will be able to work with minimal amount of supervision to a good quality standard; accuracy/attention to detail is required. Morson is delighted to be working in partnership with leading defence organisation BAE Systems to recruit a 7 Lead Project Professionals for an initial 18 month contract. As the role has been deemed Inside IR35, payment of either £35 Per hour + Holiday Pay PAYE or -£45 Per hour via an Umbrella Company. The role will be a combination of Remote and site based work. Please find the role description below: The individual in this role will manage a small project, or a part of a larger, more complex project, (such as a particular work package), or will support a Project Manager or Head of Project with aspects of managing a larger project. The role may be that of a Control Account Manager with specific responsibilities for the performance of particular Control Accounts as part of the project's control regime. Core Duties * Able to perform advanced project reporting & scheduling. * Able to undertake advanced problem solving typically based on previous experience. * Have a comprehensive knowledge of Business process and procedures. * Administration and general office skills including spreadsheets/ Microsoft packages. * Attend on the job training as appropriate. * Able to lead a small project or a work package of a larger project. * Able to manage the full project lifecycle to ensure that, over time, the needs of customers/users continue to be met and that financial and other benefits are achieved. * Identify, assesses and manages risks to the success of the project. Applies appropriate PM methods and tools whether predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches. Agrees project approach with stakeholders, and prepares realistic plans (including quality, risk and communications plans) and tracks activities against the project schedule, managing stakeholder involvement as appropriate. * Consolidate expertise from multiple sources, including third party experts, to provide coherent advice to further organisational objectives. Supports and promotes the development and sharing of specialist knowledge within the organisation. * This is a role for an experienced project professional with a small team and the ability to deliver with limited guidance from the Line Manager. * Deputises for the Project Manager as appropriate. Leadership Responsibilities * Accountable as a member of the Project Management team for supporting development and implementation of appropriately tailored PM practices. * May have supervisory responsibilities for up to 5 staff. * Expected to provide technical support to team members. * Accountable for ensuring one or more aspects of PM practices in the project are suitable for purpose. Position Description As a Principal Engineer - Naval Architecture, you will be working within the Naval architecture Department, which is split into four functionally aligned teams; hydrostatics, hydrodynamics, concept design and build support / infrastructure. You will be using your expertise in mathematical modelling, technical analysis and hydrodynamics to support the hydrodynamics function with the verification and validation of submarine manoeuvring and control requirements. Your main responsibilities as a Principal Engineer - Naval Architecture will involve: Generating evidence to demonstrate that the submarine design, and as-built product, meets its manoeuvring requirements. Developing, verifying and validating mathematical models of submarine manoeuvring and control performance. Planning and supporting scale model tests. Generating manoeuvring guidance documentation. The Individual Essential: A good degree or equivalent qualification in Naval Architecture, Physics or similar. Proven experience of developing high value mathematical models. Strong Matlab, Python or similar coding capability. Excellent analytical skills. Desirable: A background in dynamics, hydrodynamics or control. Experience of planning, conducting and analysing tests and trials. Good technical report writing and presentation skills. Previous experience working on submarine projects. Experience of using Paramarine software.
