We share our 4 steps to get you planning for the new year like a pro!
Today we embark on the first full week back at work for most people which unfortunately means that it’s time to stop eating Quality Street for breakfast and party food for dinner.
As your sitting at your desk today you will either be on your 7th cup of coffee and still pondering over what on earth happened when your alarm went off this morning or you’re raring to go and in 2020 planning mode!
If the second scenario resonates, this blog is for you.
4 steps to planning like a pro.
The start of the year is the perfect time to take stock of where you’re at and what you want to achieve this year. We’d suggest that before starting any planning you set some goals and decide where you see yourself at the end of 2020.
1. Step one – look at your year
The first step is to take a look at the year as a whole. We’d suggest getting yourself a nice diary, printing off an online 2020 calendar or creating one on Google docs so it’s easily updatable wherever you go.
Add in any standout dates for you throughout the year; holidays, events, deadlines, work trips – whatever it may be, get it booked in. From this you’ll be able to work out your busiest times, quiet periods and give you a bird’s eye view of where you may be able to squeeze things in.
2. Get inspiration from podcasts and books
Struggling to find motivation? We love using podcasts to find motivation and take inspiration from. There’s so many different podcasts out there that we’re pretty sure you will be able to find one that gives you all the anti-procrastination vibes throughout 2020 and keep you focussed on your goals.
3. Set deadlines
As much as everyone hates a deadline, they are a great way to keep yourself on track. If you have something you really want to achieve in 2020, setting yourself regular (even tiny) deadlines along the way will keep you motivated and on the road to success.
4. Make a progress tracker
On a similar note, we can all relate to the satisfaction you get when you tick off a task on a spreadsheet, even a to-do list in your notebook! A visual representation of the work that you have done so far is a brilliant motivator to do more; keep it up to date and give yourself a little treat whenever you reach a milestone.
