James Kenealey 50 weeks of giving
To mark the fifth week of our ’50 Weeks of Giving’ campaign, we are donating £1,000 to Boddan Lodge Over 60’s Club in Monton.
Boddan Lodge , located on Monton Green, is open six days a week and offers a wide range of activities for the over 60’s, including keeping fit, indoor carpet bowls, sequence/line dancing, snooker and more.
From 1991 – 2010, Monton was the location of Morson’s third major office, Stableford Hall, on the edge of Worsley Golf Club. The office has since been renovated into flats but the area still has links to Morson through local employees.
In September 2018, the club was threatened by closure by the council. The club is built on land owned by Monton Unitarian Church, with the lease paid by Salford City Council along with all utility bills and general upkeep. Unfortunately due to the current climate, the council indicated that they would be unable to keep the lodge open.
The £1,000 donation will go towards helping to keep the lodge open.
Our 50 Weeks of Giving program will be in addition to the work to raise money for the employee-chosen charities in 2019, Motor Neurone Disease Association and ABF The Soldier’s Charity. In the last 10 years, we've raised over £2million for worthy causes throughout the UK such as the Seashell Trust, Destination Florida, Salford University, Alzheimer's Society and MIND.
Further celebratory plans throughout the year will bring together Morson’s sporting ambassadors; from the horse racing world, ex-Manchester United players, to former world champion boxers Ricky Hatton and Anthony Crolla and Sale Sharks rugby club.
