Morson recently sponsored North Wales based boxer, Osian Williams in his professional debut victory over James Darkes earlier this month. Williams secured the decision victory after 3 rounds of action to set his professional career heading in the right direction and he was ecstatic to have the support of Morson for this fight:

“Morson was the first sponsor I had, they’re a massive name. They’ve had all the best Manchester fighters involved; Ricky Hatton, Scott Quigg and Callum Smith as well. I know the director of the company is a massive boxing fan so for me personally it was a dream for someone like that to take a chance on me”

It wasn’t only the fact that it was Osian’s debut that made the win so special, but also due to the odds he faced leading up to the bout:

“It was a significant win, I’ve had a year and a half out of the ring. I’ve had a lot going on behind the scenes and I completely relocated from Manchester to North Wales”

Williams transitioned to the pro ranks with an amateur record of 25 wins and 5 losses and he credits trainer Mike Egan for his success in making this transition:

“I found Mike Egan at Immortals gym. He took a chance on me when people didn’t want to. I didn’t have the best attitude, I wasn’t living the best life but he brainwashed me and got me back to where I need to be.”

It’s clear that after speaking to Osian, he reflects on his past in order to build a better future for himself and the only person he is truly competing against is the man in the mirror:

“One time when I was young, I was fighting a good kid and I was very nervous and my coach said to me if you just be you, you can beat anyone and I didn’t believe it at the time but I believe that now. For me it’s not just about being better than my opponent but also being better than I was a couple of years ago because on my day I know I can beat anyone that’s not arrogant that’s self-belief.”

Morson were proud to sponsor Osian at this important stage of his career and we all wish him the best of luck in the future.
