Kieran Farrell Puts On Another Stellar Show
Saturday evening saw Morson-sponsored Kieran Farrell put on his most action-packed show yet with an evening full of hotly contested 50/50 bouts. This marked Kieran’s second event solely as a promoter after calming down his work as a trainer and manager. The hard work he’d put in to the evening was evident. As well as the incredible action in the ring, the presentation of the show was also immaculate with a big screen offering a different viewpoint for fans to enjoy. There was also live commentary for the first time on the ‘Vicious One’s ‘show, offering each bout a distinct narrative.
The event was billed as ‘Roll the Dice’ and it more than lived up to its name with Kieran’s fighters going 4-3 with both wins and losses on the night, showcasing the quality of matchmaking from the Heywood-born promoter. Reece MacMillan and Danny Craven continued their impressive starts to their careers with crowd pleasing decision victories whilst Ben Riding won his first professional fight with Kieran and his brother Nathan Farrell guiding him to a successful start to life as a pro-boxer.
Undoubtedly the biggest win of the night for Kieran was Sam Omidi’s decision win over the up and coming Saif Cheema which broke a six-fight losing streak for the People’s Gym fighter. Unfortunate losses for George Brennan and Lee Clayton in their central area title fights were surely disappointing for Farrell but both men gave strong accounts of themselves in defeat.
It’s a credit to Kieran’s character and commitment to the sport that just seven years after winning a central area title as a promising young boxer at the Macron Stadium, he sold out the same venue as a hungry young promoter. As the dust settles on Kieran’s final show of the year, It’s clear that he is leaving his mark on the local scene and with aspirations of holding shows in Liverpool and London next year, the sky really is the limit for him.
