Morson Cyber Security recently hosted North West Insider’s cyber security seminar at their Salford head office.
The seminar, part of a series of cyber security awareness features in the magazine that Morson Cyber Security are sponsoring, took place on Wednesday 20 September 2017 and saw 11 guests from a cross-section of industry including legal, the NHS and education.
Topics on discussion at the seminar included GDPR and the need for businesses to develop dedicated cyber security strategies to combat the evolving threat.
DC Paul Taylor of Greater Manchester Police spoke about the increase in ransomware attacks being reported as more and more organisations fail to preemptively protect themselves.
Terry Pudwell of Assuria, the military-grade software that powers Morson’s cyber solution, highlighted the fact that companies don’t have to outlay as much on cyber security as they might think to have top-level protection, and that it’s now a board-level issue.
Director of Morson Cyber Security, Mark Howarth, urged companies of all sizes and industries during the cyber security seminar to consider GDPR compliance “a business expense and not strictly an IT expense”, in particular reference to the considerable fines that will be imposed on non-compliant businesses after the legislation comes into action next May.
