Last week, Morson attended the first Inspire Summit which highlights the successes of women working in the UK construction, engineering and housing sectors . Profiling companies and their female employees who are bucking the trend, reshaping expectations and inspiring others to follow in their footsteps.
Here at Morson International, we have more than 1,800 female contractors working in various roles throughout the globe. Yet compared to those specifically in engineering, the number of females compared to male sits at 7.5 per cent. Therefore, Morson has launched a campaign to encourage more females into engineering by pledging to double its number of female engineering contractors by 2020.
The event saw over 400+ professionals come together to hear about the phenomenal contribution that women in these sectors make. The conference started with a ‘what inspires me’ panel of leading women in their fields in the main auditorium followed by a programme of focus sessions, panel discussions and live workshops on topics such as ‘under-represented at every level’ and ‘Women on the Tool’s brokerage model’.
Alongside the above, there were several professional case studies from architects, engineers and entrepreneurs to name a few. Overall, the event was everything that an inspire summit should be; inspiring.
Abbey Donnell-Jones, a Contract Services Manager here at Morson commented on the event:
“This was a very informative event which showcased some of the great initiatives already in place to encourage women to thrive within traditionally male dominated sectors of the construction, engineering and housing sectors. The Q & A sessions with women who had bucked the trend and were now leaders within the technical field were truly inspirational and provided attendees with an insight into the limitless opportunities available within the sectors regardless of gender”
