Hi-Visibility Heroes
The night of August 29th was no ordinary shift for one of our Canning Town gangs, who were scheduled to work at Rayners Lane completing routine maintenance for LUL.
After arriving at the station around 2am, the gang noticed flames coming from a house adjacent to the car park. Our quick-thinking operatives sprang into action, with PWT Graham Miller immediately calling the fire brigade, whilst the others ran towards the burning building to see what they could do.
The gang began shouting warnings to the occupants of the house to get out, and when people started to emerge, platelayer Rob Dignam, fearlessly ran inside to wake any other people and ensure all the residents were evacuated.
Safely away from the danger zone, the gang ensured that everyone had been accounted for and withdrew from the scene as the London Fire Brigade arrived and extinguished the flames.
There were numerous occupants in the house that evening and thanks to our gang who showed exactly what teamwork is all about, all twelve people including children as young as three, made it out safely. Their quick thinking and selfless actions were commended by the lead firefighter who attended the blaze.
The Morson team involved were Danny Saggers, Dehan Potgieter, Graham Miller, Jerry Moke, Ben Tandy and Rob Digman. We’re extremely proud of all our workforce here in London and when incidents like this occur, it is easy to see why.
Well done!
