With the news of £6.6billion of first phase contracts for HS2 being announced, Morson managing director Dr Kevin Gorton offered his congratulations to the winning parties.

“We would like to offer two-fold congratulations to both the HS2 project and all the winning parties for these significant contracts.”

Construction is set to begin in earnest in 2018, with work beginning on tunnels, new stations and embankments along the first phase route between London and Birmingham. This section of the route is scheduled to be completed in 2026.

“It’s great to see the project moving forwards and progressing. We know that skilled labour is a key issue for the successful delivery of the project and understand the challenges involved in sourcing this. As a leading provider of specialist technical resource to the rail industry, we look forward to supporting the project and consortium partners in the future.”
