Morson International has been selected as one of the first suppliers of the new Station Works and Improvement Programme (SWIP) by the London Underground
The initiative, a multi-disciplined internal delivery team that operates across Transport for London, has been established to deliver a station improvement programme through project management, systems, civils and fit outs, as well as consultancy and design. It will act as the internal principal contractor in the hope that working directly with trade contractors will cut programme costs by 25%.
The support services division of Morson International’s London office carried out two projects supplying teams of industrial and station painters to the project and upon successful completion of these were awarded supplier status.
The supply arrangement has been put in place in order to ensure “agility and responsiveness” for both the London Underground and the larger Transport for London group.
James Room, manager of London’s support services division, said “we are immensely proud to have the opportunity to support Transport for London in this exciting initiative and look forward to working closely with the SWIP team to deliver the diverse station improvement programme.”
Terry Naden, director of Morson’s London operation said “ We are extremely proud of our long history of working in partnership with Transport for London and this further demonstrates our commitment to providing them with the best possible support and service.”
