Morson Group CEO Ged Mason was crowned Master EY Entrepreneur of the Year UK 2016 at the EY Entrepreneur of the Year awards.
The EY Entrepreneur of the Year is regarded as one of the world’s most prestigious business awards, operating in 145 cities across 60 countries. It celebrates the spirit and contribution of exceptional entrepreneurs.
The ceremony, which took place on 3 October at The Brewery in London, was attended by the winners of the regional finals in June.
Each of the UK finalists were assessed by an independent panel of judges based on criteria such as entrepreneurial spirit, innovation, influence and financial performance. An emphasis was also placed on the future and developing upon the vision of growth and expansion.
EY Entrepreneur of the Year’s Leader Stuart Watson sees the celebration of business successes as vital. “Entrepreneurs are the bedrock of our economy and it’s vitally important that we continue to celebrate and recognise their successes and help them share best practice.”
“All of this year’s finalists have developed outstanding businesses by being bold and innovative, capitalising on opportunities has they’ve appeared.”
On winning the accolade of Master Entrepreneur, Ged commented “It’s such an honour, especially to win an award like this in good company with lots of interesting and worthy winners in the different categories. It was encouraging to see that entrepreneurialism is thriving in the UK.”
“Awards like this are, for me, a recognition not so much of my achievements but the achievements of everyone around me within the business.”
