Morson Group are supporting an AgustaWestland contract with the Ministry of Defence (MOD) which maintains Apache attack helicopters at Wattisham Flying Station.
Recently three members of staff, who are also Aviation Reservists in REME, returned from a two week exercise between UK and French forces on Salisbury Plain, as part of an aviation support workshop.
The MOD ‘whole force concept’ is a project which encourages the industry and the MOD to work in partnership together. Morson Group is under contract with AgustaWestland and has been enlisted to employ Apache and Wildcat helicopter engineers at Wattisham Flying Station and RNAS Yeovilton.
Sergeant Holland, who is employed by Morson as an Aircraft Supervisor said: “I help maintain the Apaches in civilian life, but being a reservist has meant I can keep up my military skills too.”
Morson Group together with AgustaWestland have had an established partnership with the MOD supporting our Reserve Forces, since 2014 when a Morson Avionic Supervisor employee was mobilised to Afghanistan as an Army Air Corps LCpl reservist and employed to re-fuel and re-arm helicopters. In addition to this, Morson also employed a Royal Navy reserve Airframe and Engines Supervisor on Apache. Both of these Morson employees have now been transferred to the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) reserves.
Morson have continued to further develop their partnership with the MOD and have held road shows and drop in clinics which has resulted in a further recruitment.
To demonstrate their continued commitment to the MOD, Morson have re-signed the Armed Forces Covenant, a promise that those who serve or have served, and their families, are treated fairly. Morson have also received the Silver Award in the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme, an award which recognises organisations that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to defence and the armed forces community.
Jon Moon, Contracts Manager at Morson Group said: “We are delighted to have re-signed the Armed Forces Covenant and to be recognised for our continued commitment to the forces. We are looking forward to our partnership to continue to develop and grow.”
