In November 2014 the Track Safety Alliance launched a competition for safety innovation.

Network Rail and its supply chain partners were invited to enter the competition by sending their ideas for safety innovation that could help us work more safely. Network Rail sponsored the competition by offering up to five prizes of £1,000 each to the chosen winners.

A panel of judges comprising of managers, safety professionals and trade union members chose the winners.

We were delighted to hear that Manny Iddie, working then for Morson International, won one of the £1,000 prizes. His idea was a signal bat to direct machinery on site during both days and nights.

Manny was presented with his cheque at the Track Safety Alliance Supervisory and Technical forum by Steve Featherstone, Network Rail’s IP Track Director.

Gareth Morris, associate director at Morson, attended the forum and said: ”It was great to see Manny receiving his award from Steve in front of the forum delegates. We wish him the all the best in developing his idea into a working product that may help improve safety on site. Well done, Manny!”
