The recruitment specialist, Vital Human Resources Ltd, has announced a new apprenticeship programme, starting in April 2015.

The one-year programme has been developed to meet the increasing skills shortage in the UK rail industry. Initially supporting 12 apprentices, the programme – taking place in Salford, Greater Manchester – will accept a second wave of apprentices in the autumn.

Vital Human Resources (VHR) is a subsidiary of the Manchester- based technical recruitment and engineering firm, Morson Group.

The programme will introduce apprentices to various elements of the UK rail infrastructure, and will support the hands-on practical training with classroom-based learning at the purpose-built site in Salford.

Gary Hardaker, Director at VHR, said: “We are delighted to announce the VHR Rail Apprenticeship Programme in National Apprenticeship Week 2015.

“We felt there was a need for increased learning opportunities in the rail industry – there are some large scale infrastructure projects happening in the UK, and a career in rail can offer exciting opportunities.

“The programme forms one element of our continued commitment to meeting the skills shortage challenge, and supporting our clients in the UK rail industry.”
