GKN Aerospace Europe & Special Products Group presented engineering design and project management company, Morson Projects, with an award in recognition of its support during the final stages flight clearance for the Airbus A350-900 Rear Spar.
The award was presented on-site at Morson Projects’ Brabazon office in Filton on Monday 14th October by Kostas Soumilas, VP Head of Engineering, Technology and Quality for GKN Aerospace Europe & Special Products Group. Three engineers from Morson Projects – Shwetanana Anand, Patrick McLaughlin and Chris Summers – received individual awards for their work.
Mr Soumilas explained to attendees that in the lead up to the A350-900 first flight, the GKN team was under pressure to complete technical work that would enable the Rear Spar to be cleared for the first flight – something that was subject to challenging timescales. Morson Projects’ engineers provided weekend and late night support to ensure that this challenging objective was achieved on time.
Syd Carson, Divisional Director (Aerospace and Defence) at Morson Projects, commented: “We’d like to thank Kostas Soumilas and GKN for the excellent customer recognition shown for our engineers’ work, and would also like to thank Shwetanana, Patrick and Chris for their outstanding support on this project.”
