EADS has announced its plans to rename itself as Airbus Group, combining its defence and space units alongside two further divisions; commercial aircraft and helicopters.

The company plans to complete the implementation process by the end of 2014. The news comes as EADS reported that second quarter net profits rose by 14% to 518m euros (£451m).

A spokesperson for EADS told BBC News that the move would “enhance integration and cohesion by renaming the group and its divisions using the globally recognised Airbus brand”.
