Morson International Charities Committee held their Annual ‘Charity Dinner Dance' this year on Saturday 3rd November at Mere Golf and Country Club.
The event raised nearly £22,000 for their two nominated charities for 2007, Henshaws Society for Blind People (http://www.henshaws.org.uk/) and the Wood Street Mission (http://www.woodstreetmission.org.uk/).
Both of these charities have worked tirelessly for over 100 years to help disadvantaged people, especially children and young adults, without the funds or publicity enjoyed by some of the more well known charitable organisations.
The event was compered by Mike Toolan from Key 103. In attendance at the event were senior Board Directors and employees of The Morson Group, local business people and Morson Group suppliers.
Over 300 guests attended the event which included an auction and raffle with prizes including a five star holiday to Australia, a day at the races, and a weekend spa break.
Heather Bowen, Senior Campaign Manager for Henshaws said:
"I'm thrilled the event raised such a huge amount of money for Henshaws. The event was a great success and the money will help provide a better quality of life for those who need it most.
On behalf of Henshaws we would like to thank Morson International for their kind support and generosity, we look forward to working together in the future"
Jan O'Connor, Manager of Wood Street mission, who attended the event with the Charity's Board of Trustees, was absolutely delighted by the success of the evening.
She said "Morson's fantastic fundraising efforts will make a huge difference to our work. Being such a small charity every penny we receive is much appreciated especially by the thousands of local children and families who are referred to us for help each year. Wood Street thanks all the Morson team for their tireless work to make this event and this year's fundraising work such a huge success".
Paul Moogan, Chair of the Morson International Charity Committee said:
"Many thanks must go to the Morson Charity Committee whose members have worked tirelessly throughout the year on a range of events, the profits of which will make a real difference to the lives of disadvantaged children. Thanks must go to all those who donated prizes, bought tables and attend the event as the event exceeded all of our expectations and we look forward to the Charity Summer Ball, at the same venue in July 2008"
