Our Client requires a Commercial Manager to manage the commercial activities of two business areas of the company i.e. the Electronic Warfare’s Operational Support activities plus the Air Systems UK’s area. (The Air Systems UK business centres around unmanned systems, avionics systems, training and simulation solutions and acts as prime contractor capacity across the various lines of business within the organisation). The role reports directly to the Head of Commercial and is fast paced and dynamic. The role interfaces with an array of customers and various internal functions, devising innovative solutions to seek out new business opportunities and includes the management of a team of people.
Key Responsibility Areas
Provision of commercial support to two business areas: EWOS and Air Systems UK.
Working collaboratively across the lines of business within Selex ES’ Airborne & Space Systems Division as is necessary to support this role
Delivery of those areas’ order book targets through the acquisition of follow-on/new business.
Commercial management of proposals, contracts and agreements in home/export markets.
Negotiation of viable business and assessment of any commercial risks.
Adherence to company policy, incl. obtaining business approvals for tender vets/agreements.
Assist in proposing innovative commercial/business solutions and generating proposals to meet customer requirements.
Development and maintenance of strong customer relationships (internal and external)
Management of a commercial team, including development, training, resource allocation and prioritisation.
Reporting and communication within the commercial team and wider organisation, including attending various management reviews.
Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge
Experience in a commercial management capacity, in the defence or aerospace industry.
Sound knowledge of defence contracting mechanisms and terms and conditions.
Able to obtain positive outcomes, with a strong desire to win business and adopt innovative approaches to winning new business.
Dynamic and tenacious with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and persuade others.
Proven negotiation experience and business acquisition skills.
Articulate, numerate, good communication skills; able to present at various levels.
People management experience.
Good team player and able to use initiative.
Good time management and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
Demonstrate an understanding and ability to adhere to company’s processes.
Able to produce accurate work and obtain the requisite corporate approvals essential.
